central institution in the University of Toronto, in semi-rural surroundings just north of Toronto,

scientific development of Ontario's provincial university.

|Queen's University-1 Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, c.
1900-1910. This university under Presbyterian control was started up in Kingston in
|Laval University Laval University at Quebec was founded around
the major Catholic seminary in 1852, but was already a large public university by the
|Wycliffe College Wycliffe College, an Anglican church college
which joined with the University of Toronto.
